A well-known brewer distributed kegs of beer via a wholesaler to its ultimate customers – pubs, bars and restaurants.
Recovery of kegs was always a challenge, and given the value of the kegs, this tied up substantial working capital in the assets. The brewer attached Tracca sensors to a sample of kegs, to see exactly where they were being delivered, and whether they were being recovered when empty. Tracca provided continual visibility of the assets, not just occasional locations when scanned at point of dispatch or delivery by the wholesaler. The performance of the sensors was not affected at all by the metal kegs – a major barrier to other technologies such as RFID.
